Blistered Sweet Potatoes

These are simple to make, healthy, and oh so good. Cut thin slice of the sweet potatoe longways (peel on) and place on cookie sheet. Spray lightly with 100% canola spray on both sides. Sprinkle with kosher salt and garlic powder. Bake on the bottom shelf in oven @ 400 until you smell a little char. The bottoms should be crisp and lightly blistered and the tops should be soft and gooy. (flip and bake longer if you want both sides crisp)

I got some Blue Crabs this weekend from the market. I have heard a few good things about blue crabs so I was excited. Overall it is a lot of work for very little payoff. Next time I am in the mood for crab, I am getting King Crab Legs. It was pretty good learning how to make them.

Fathers Day

I decided to do something special for my Father's Day. I know he loves oysters, but hasn't had any in a while. I went to the beach yesterday and manage to collect 22 giant whoppers. I purchased a proper shucking knife, and shucked them for him today.  It made a nice appetizer

Whe had king Crab Legs for out main course. They were sweet and tasty. Thank you Stew Lenard's (and Dad for steaming them)!

Fresh Figs and Brie

I found fresh figs at the markt today. I was very excited because I had been wanting to try them since November. I cut them in half, added some brie, salted, and broiled for several minutes. They were good. If you plan to make this, I suggest a bigger piece of brie than what is pictured.

First Harvest of Oysters

This is my my first time harvesting oysters. Boy were they good. The little guy in the photo was out of size, but I didn't realize he way there until I schucked them. My next investment will be a good quality oyster knife. They were very sweet. I used beet and horseraddish for a sause. It complimented the oysters very well. There is nothing like eating something within 1 hour of it being havested.
